Bill Skarsgård confirmed as lead in Hideo Kojima’s PHYSINT; Xbox publishing
TOKYO — KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS on Sept. 17, 2026 confirmed that Bill Skarsgård will play the lead role in PHYSINT, unveiled a new poster featuring Skarsgård and Charlee Fraser, and said Xbox is the game’s publishing partner — deepening a collaboration already underway on OD, according to the studio’s official announcement.
“I’m delighted to confirm the lead role for PHYSINT will be Bill Skarsgård,” Hideo Kojima said in the studio statement. “We are both long-time fans of each other’s work, and we’ve decided to embark on this new adventure together. The costume fittings, scans, and camera tests we conducted with Bill and Charlee earlier this year gave me tremendous confidence in the direction of the project.”
Skarsgård joins a cast previously revealed at the studio’s “Beyond the Strand” 10th-anniversary event in Tokyo on Sept. 23, 2025, including Charlee Fraser, prior Kojima collaborator Don Lee, and Minami Hamabe. The studio described PHYSINT as its third original IP and said Kojima has called the project the culmination of his 40-year career as a game creator, aimed at setting a new benchmark for the action-espionage genre with Xbox’s full support.
KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS and Xbox said both sides are excited about the collaboration and look forward to bringing PHYSINT to players worldwide. The studio pointed fans to the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 Broadcast for the full announcement presentation. The casting confirmation is a soft industry beat — a named lead and publisher alignment on a long-gestating Kojima title — not a launch date or platform exclusivity flash.
Skarsgård’s recent screen slate, as summarized by the studio, includes Gus Van Sant’s Dead Man’s Wire (2026), with upcoming work in Peter Berg’s The Mosquito Bowl and Andrew Niccol’s Lords of War; he remains widely known for Pennywise in the It films and the It: Welcome to Derry series.
