BOSTON / NEW YORK — Patrick Clancy and his wife, fertility doctor Dr. Rachel Danis, sat for their first joint television interview with Ross Douthat on CBS’s 60 Minutes on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026 — days after a Plymouth County jury deadlocked in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial — and confirmed they are starting a family, according to the CBS transcript and reports from NewsNation, NBC Boston, and the New York Post.

Douthat asked whether the couple was starting a family. “Yeah,” Danis answered, per the CBS transcript. Asked what they would tell a future child about the child’s brothers and sister, Patrick said: “I think every parent can agree, you have different relationships with your kids, but they’re all your kids. And I can’t wait to tell them about their brothers and sister.” NewsNation separately reported the same exchange and named the siblings — Cora, Dawson, and Callan — who died in January 2023.

Danis, a reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist, said the couple met through a New York City run club; they married in April 2026, NewsNation, NBC Boston, and the Post reported. The Post added that the April ceremony was at the Ladies Pavilion in Central Park, where Danis said they first met. Danis told Douthat she cannot bring his children back but can “honor them and allow Pat to grieve” while continuing to honor them in the present, per the CBS transcript and NewsNation.

Clancy also described suicidal thoughts after the children’s deaths. Asked by Douthat whether he ever had suicidal thoughts himself, he answered: “Yeah. There was a time where I didn’t think I would live to see my 35th birthday. And I was completely fine with it,” according to the CBS transcript and matching NewsNation and NBC Boston accounts. He said he moved to New York City seeking anonymity and later celebrated Callan’s first birthday by lighting a candle at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

On the mistrial and perinatal mental health, Clancy told Douthat that online rumors were a distraction from what “really matters,” perinatal mental health, and that he believes Lindsay’s mental illness — not the “Killer Mom” / “Monster” headlines — caused what happened, per NBC Boston and the CBS transcript. A Plymouth County jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict after lengthy deliberations earlier this month; prosecutors have not publicly announced whether they will seek a retrial, NBC Boston reported. Lindsay Clancy remains charged with first-degree murder in the children’s deaths; she has pleaded not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility.
