ARLINGTON, Texas — Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels left Sunday’s Week 2 game against the Dallas Cowboys in the second quarter with a left elbow injury, was carted off the field, and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest, according to NBC Sports and Bleacher Report.

NBC Sports’ fantasy desk reported that Daniels was hurt on a botched play from the snap while Washington tried to score before halftime: his foot was stepped on, he tried to break his fall with his left arm, and he suffered what the desk described as a nasty left-elbow injury that looked similar to last year’s dislocated elbow against the Seattle Seahawks. Bleacher Report separately said Daniels suffered an elbow injury right before halftime near the Cowboys’ goal line and that Clarence Hill Jr. of All City DLLS reported he had to be carted off.

Before exiting, Daniels was playing well, NBC Sports reported: about 96 passing yards and a touchdown, plus seven carries for 69 yards with multiple chunk gains. Bleacher Report noted that without Daniels, Washington turns to veteran backup Marcus Mariota. Sunday evening coverage used for this report had not yet confirmed a final score or a detailed Mariota box score.

Daniels’ 2025 season was already marked by elbow trouble, including a left-elbow dislocation against Seattle that sidelined him for multiple games, Bleacher Report recounted. How serious Sunday’s left-elbow injury is has not been publicly confirmed as of Sunday evening, Sept. 20, 2026.
