WASHINGTON — The United States on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, struck multiple Iranian tankers after more attempted missile attacks on a Navy warship, according to a U.S. official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive military operations, the Associated Press reported via NBC News.

The Tuesday action is distinct from Saturday’s strikes, when the U.S. military said it hit three Iranian oil tankers after Navy warships were targeted with ballistic missiles and warned it would, “if necessary, destroy Iran’s limited and exposed oil fleet.” No named CENTCOM statement was included in the Tuesday AP report; attribution rests on the anonymous official.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Navy, via Iranian state television, warned crews of oil tankers near ports in Kuwait and Bahrain to immediately leave their vessels — whether at anchor or docked — saying the ships “will be targeted” in retaliation for U.S. attacks on Iranian tankers. The warning accused Kuwait and Bahrain of hosting U.S. forces and assisting in the attacks.

The Trump administration on Tuesday also imposed sanctions on additional elements of Iran’s aviation industry, targeting more than two dozen commercial and private airlines as well as foreign cargo service providers. Brent crude briefly climbed as high as $99.46 a barrel Tuesday, AP reported, as both sides continue to contest control of the Strait of Hormuz.

Insanity Developing covered Saturday’s three-tanker CENTCOM package and Monday’s Iran Hormuz restricted-zone announcement separately.
