The exchange lands in a war that has already snarled the strait that normally carries about one-fifth of global oil and gas shipments. Iran has maintained a Hormuz blockade since the conflict opened more than six months ago; the U.S. has imposed its own blockade of Iranian ports. After a quieter August, Tehran and Washington have resumed exchanges of fire, pushing oil prices back toward July levels, the Guardian reported.
