MAGA Inc files $10 million Texas Senate ad buy to boost Ken Paxton
WASHINGTON — Trump-aligned super PAC MAGA Inc. plans to spend $10 million on television and digital advertising in the Texas U.S. Senate race, according to a Federal Election Commission report filed Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, NBC News reported.
The filing indicates the ads will target Democratic nominee state Rep. James Talarico, with the independent expenditure intended to boost Republican nominee Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Paxton won the GOP nomination after defeating Sen. John Cornyn in the primary following an endorsement from President Donald Trump, NBC News reported.
The buy arrives as Republicans press Trump’s political operation to engage harder in the midterms — especially in Texas, where Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., estimated advertising costs about $8 million a week. “Their resources need to be brought to bear on Texas because it’s not one that we can lose if we’re going to hang on to a Republican majority,” Thune said this week on Fox News, according to NBC News.
Some Senate Republicans have publicly worried that Paxton could face a tougher general election than Cornyn because of past controversies. The Republican-led Texas House impeached Paxton in 2023 on allegations of bribery and abuse of public trust; he was later acquitted by the state Senate after a trial, NBC News reported. Last year, Paxton’s wife, state Sen. Angela Paxton, announced she had filed for divorce “on biblical grounds … in light of recent discoveries,” declining to elaborate further.
On Wednesday, Trump pledged to campaign for Paxton and other GOP candidates ahead of November. “We’re going to go to Texas and work for Ken Paxton, who’s a great guy,” the president told reporters, per NBC News. He also addressed recent criticism of Paxton’s wardrobe, saying voters “might not love his look” or “his television interviews,” but calling him “the best attorney general in the country.”
MAGA Inc. had more than $400 million on hand as of July 31, according to its most recent fundraising report cited by NBC News. Speaking to reporters Friday, Trump said he planned to allocate roughly $400 million to $500 million from the super PAC to boost Republican midterm candidates: “I think I have, like, close to a billion dollars in the super PAC, and I’m allocating probably $400 or $500 million. So I’ll be spending, we’ll be spending.”
The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times also reported Saturday on the Trump-aligned group’s Texas spending push for Paxton.
